Hi and welcome to my personal blog.

Since you’ve made it to this page you probably have a few questions about who I am and what I do.

  • Fun loving, and a bit goofy at times :)
  • A person who enjoys teaching, mentoring, and motivating others

What I do

I’ve been self-employed for over 4 years now.

When people ask what it is that I do, it’s always difficult to give a short answer. When I say “build websites”, most people assume I’m a freelance graphic designer or website coder who builds websites for other people.

When I say “Internet marketing”, most people say “wow cool”, but I’m pretty sure they believe I spam people all day.

The truth is, what I have worked on up until now is better described as affiliate marketing. If someone seems really interested in what I do I try to make it a point to tie something they are knowledgeable on to affiliate marketing.

For example, if someone is a big fan of hunting (which makes up a lot of my wife’s family), I might say something like,

Since you love hunting, you could start your own hunting blog where you talk about hunting trips, strategies, and the latest rifles and other hunting equipment. The companies that sell that equipment have affiliate programs where you get paid  a small percentage of each sale that results from someone who came from your website.

That’s the basis of affiliate marketing. It sounds simply in theory, but in practice it takes a lot of hard work to successfully convert visitors into customers. And even though it’s a difficult business to learn, I’ve gained a lot of great skills that are transferable to all types of online business models.

Here’s a breakdown of the Internet Marketing skills I’ve acquired as a part of this business.

  • Market & keyword research
  • Competitive analysis
  • Strategic planning
  • Copywriting
  • SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
  • HTML/CSS/PHP
  • Web design
  • Social media promotion and website integration
  • Link building
